Game Preparation

Plump full breasted pheasant, dead and cold

Legs stiff and locked, eyes glazed and starring

Blade sharp cut feather deep, breasts exposed

Breasts removed, nothing left, empty and old

Life gone, life goes on, tap runs, meat washed

Feathers, shot, removed, patted dry, prepared

Floured, rolled, seasoned, wrapped, bacon, oil

Oven, Tray, ready, eaten, enjoyed, meat noshed

Game Hunter

Dressed to keep warm, dressed to keep dry, dressed to kill

Rifle, knife, camouflage, stealth, the hunter is armed

Long grass, thickets, rivers, mud and woods undaunted

Slowly moving, step by step, eyes wide, downwind

Movement, wings, noise, startled, gun raised

Shot fired, target hit, dog running, whistle blowing

Feather in mouth, bird at feet, bang, high bird

Winged, dog on way, birds falling around

Good hunt, good hunt they will say
